Trick-or-Treating in Uptown
Over twenty businesses in the Uptown district will be giving out treats to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
Trick-or-treating hours are from 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, October 31st. Treats will be given to children, ages 12 and under, who are in costume.
Participating businesses will have balloons outside of their establishments during trick-or-treating hours. Parents are encouraged to park in the Big Chair parking lot to start the loop down Church and back up Main. Participating businesses are as follows: Martin Plaza, Pieces, As-Is Outlet, Studio 107, Rock’n Grill, What’s Your Sign?, Junkbabies, King Properties (in Jefferson Plaza lobby area), Daily Grind, Southern Foothills, Hugo’s Restaurant, Southern Virginia Properties, Tasty Crème Donuts, The Artisan Center, Totally Cool Totes / Totally You, Classy Consignments & Gifts, Just Breathe Yoga & Bodywork, It’s Your Time Salon, Ramos Cleaning Service, Nommy’s Attic, C. Seay & Co., Larry & Alley Furniture, and the Blue Ridge Public Library.
Uptown businesses developed this idea as a safe and friendly alternative to neighborhood trick-or-treating, as many households choose not to participate in this children’s ritual anymore. Uptown merchants would like to pick up where others have left off, by inviting the local children into their “neighborhood” of businesses.
Many Uptown restaurants will be extending their hours to accommodate families during this fun-filled night. Various shops and restaurants are offering Halloween specials that night as well.
