21% of Henry County still without power

Weather is causing closures and delays again this morning. Keep up with the latest listings here.

Appalachian Power crews are slowly restoring power to customers in Henry County.  As of this morning, 5,937 Henry County homes and businesses — 21% of Appalachian’s customers — were still without power according to the utility’s Web site.

Appalachian had more than 300 workers in Henry County over the weekend repairing disrupted transmission lines and substations, company spokesman John Shepelwich said. Shepelwich spoke with us Saturday morning on the “Coffee Break” program and said all power was not expected to be restored until sometime  Tuesday night.
